Trade Deal Announced With United Kingdom Isn't Actually A Trade Deal

Trump announced a trade deal that turns out isn't really a trade deal. It's just a reduction of tariffs on the UK.

This trade "deal" with the UK leaves a majority of the actual terms wide open, with statements such as "contingent on findings," and "promptly" and "the United States intends," and "both countries intend," and "following a reasonable period of negotiation."

The United Kingdom famously shot itself in the foot by removing itself from the European Union in January 2020. This led to increased costs for UK businesses and strained relationships with its closest trade and defense partners.

The United States receives just over 15% of United Kingdom exports, and the Prime Minister, in an attempt to sell the deal to the British public said that the deal saved 150,000 jobs in the UK. But according to reports from English news outlets, a lot of the public isn't buying this, and one prominent attorney brushed off the "deal" as a "press release."

There is no trade deal. At best, there is a declaration of intent.
