Task forces were created by executive order to examine the United States food supply chain and review the effects of monopolies in the chain.
The US food supply is almost completely controlled by a small handful of giant corporations. Farmers are beholden to these suppliers. Independent farmers who refuse to do business with them struggle to find buyers.
The task force has 180 days to research the supply chain and report back.
As always, I don't actually disagree with this order, but there is language in the order that points to ulterior motives, such as starting fights with other nations who may or may not have companies within their borders that are part of the US food supply chain. Because Trump always delivers the worst possible hot takes, I do believe he'll use this report not to figure out all our supply chain problems, but to simply find reasons to punish us with more tariffs.
