Today, President Trump signed an executive order that pre-empts States from writing legislation to rein in artificial intelligence.
Early in his administration, President Trump revoked a Biden order that sought to control the proliferation of AI-generated sexual images of women without their consent. It was during Biden's administration that these images began to hit the internet, including images of famous women and politicians.
Of the revocation of Biden's order, the executive order states, "I revoked my predecessor’s attempt to paralyze this industry and directed my Administration to remove barriers to United States AI leadership."
I feel it's important we understand that Trump doesn't care about protecting anyone.
The order today offers multiple threats to States who attempt to protect their citizens from the ill-impacts of AI, including the withholding of funds approved by Congress, and increased legal and oversight scrutiny.
