The administration announced plans to invade Memphis Tennessee with the United States Army National Guard and other Federal agencies, with the pretext to stamp out crime.
Trump has had his eyes on cities with far less crime, like Chicago. However, he has received pushback from the States who do not want the military to invade them. His goals were also clearly identifiable as politically motivated.
In contrast, Tennessee is a Republican State and they welcome the invasion by the United States military. Republicans love being invaded by the military, I guess(?). Furthermore, Memphis is statistically the most violent city in the United States. Trump's reversal from other cities he wanted to invade with the military comes after some influential conservative commentators, like Megyn Kelly, called him out for this issue.
In the press release on the White House website, the administratin blames lax laws instituted by politicians funded Jewish billionaire George Soros. The press release links to an article in the Washington Examiner—a conservative rag, known for dubious sourcing. The Examiner, true to form, does not source its claim that the prosecutor of that county received any funds from George Soros. I point this out to demonstrate another example of the Trump Administration making decisions at least partly on lies.
