With the beginning of economic decline—a decline widely predicted by reputable economists—President Trump fired the government official in charge of breaking the bad news: Commissioner Erika McEntarfer of the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).
In today's report, the BLS reported that the United States only added 73,000 jobs in July, far less than the 115,000 jobs expected. Furthermore, the revised numbers in May and June cut 258,000 jobs that had been calculated previously, reducing those months to fewer than 20,000 in each month.

These dismal numbers sent President Trump into an angry trumpnado, and he immediately fired McEntarfer. These numbers also show us what economists have been predicting would happen.
The BLS is dedicated to providing accurate numbers without political meddling. This will change now, and we have no way of knowing whether the new BLS chief will instruct their workers to provide us with untainted calculations.
