Inauguration Day

Donald John Trump took the oath of office for a second time today. The Bible was marked safe from being touched by the felon and sex predator, and therefore neither the book nor the man burst into flames. Melania Trump was so thrilled to be there, that she hid half her face under a comically large hat. Some outlets posted pictures of President Trump trying to kiss his wife, revealing that she may have worn the hat to avoid him.

With wide-brimmed hat, Melania Trump also protects herself from the advances of President Donald John Trump.

During the festivities, oligarch and Trump's functioning chief lieutenant, Elon Musk, gave a Nazi salute twice to thunderous applause.  Traditional media outlets and Musk allies immediately downplayed the gesture, saying things like, "It's not something you typically see at American political rallies." Despite the public outcry by historians, that indeed, this was a Nazi salute, media outlets ingratiated themselves to the new administration with the language of doubt and obfuscation.  

Traditional outlets take themselves so seriously, that they can't bring themselves to calling a spade a "spade," as the United States descends deeper into the circles of hell. They made a big deal out of the flag flying at full mast as the nation mourns the death of Jimmy Carter, but talked circles around this issue.

Elon Musk makes another public attempt to form an X with his body. Fails. 

After an overt display of outright fascist imagery and language, Trump went on to make good on some of his day-one promises, signing numerous executive orders. The list below is not intended to be comprehensive.

• Established Elon Musk as an oligarch in charge of a new executive agency, DOGE.
• Eliminated hundreds of thousands of Federal jobs that were accessible to rural citizens through telework.
• Revoked birthright citizenship, which has been a hallmark of American culture since the 1860s, and which is enshrined in the Constitution itself.
• Removed protections and acknowledgement of Federal recognition of transgender people under the guise of "protecting women."
• Ended Federal efforts to assure there is no racial or sexual discrimination in Federal hiring practices.
• Pardoned and commuted sentences of criminals who attempted to overthrow American democracy on January 6, 2021.
• Ordered that the Gulf of Mexico be renamed Gulf of America
• Designated drug cartels as terrorist organizations.*
• Elimination of most legal entries of new immigrants into the United States. 
• Ordered health-related agencies to pause all communication with the public.

*Designation of a group as a terrorist organization opens up an array of ways to combat the group, which most Americans would agree with. Locking down all their assets, penalties for aiding and abetting members of the organization, etc...You can read the State Department's summary of all this HERE. The concern I have is this: Trump and his MAGA movement have been accusing nearly ALL immigrants arriving at the border of being cartel members. From men and women, to tiny little children. As absurd as it seems, I could foresee an extreme in which a Food Bank providing a box of food to a Hispanic family of undocumented immigrants could be considered providing aid to a terrorist group.
