Under the claim that Washington D.C. is more violent than any of the 50 States, President Trump declared a state of emergency in D.C. and has taken Federal control over the police force. He placed Attorney General Pam Bondi in charge of the police force.
In addition, President Trump has ordered the Department of Defense to provide National Guard troops, and has ordered Defense to make the National Guard available for any Governor who wishes to use the United States military against United States citizens.
The Trump administration consistently lies about almost everything and this is no exception. Washington D.C. is not a state, but is a city. Washington D.C. ranks 25th in the nation in violent crimes in metropolitan areas, according to the FBI's own statistics.
Further, violent crime has fallen significantly over the last 30 years in D.C.
President Trump has unleashed Federal troops in Los Angeles, Texas and now, Washington D.C. This unprecedented invasion of the United States with the Federal military is one of the explicit reasons we declared independence in 1776.
