Department of Education releases six billion in funding for after-school programs and programs for impoverished children. The funding had been held back by the department because the administration said it helped support a liberal agenda. But that was a lie and everyone knew it; even Republican lawmakers clamoured for the funds to be released.
Immigration raids have made farm labor plummet in California where farms are experiencing shortages of 70% to 80%. California provides around 13% of the American food supply. However, the food supply elsewhere in the US also depends on immigrant labor and are experiencing hardship finding labor. Meanwhile, the Department of Defense is deplying an additional 400 troops to support ICE operations in the United States.
Lastly, a little bright spot, because even a broken clock tells the correct time twice a day: President Trump signed an executive order requiring colleges with lucrative mens sports programs to invest more money in womens and not-profitable sports. Whether this order is constitutional or not, I don't know. I think there may be constitutional issues with it. I can only say that there are a few orders Trump has issued that don't represent fearmongering, xenophobic horse shit, and I can at least appreciate what this order wants to accomplish.
