Administration Wants You To Report Your Neighbors

Department of Homeland security opens office that provides victims of crimes committed by undocumented non-citizens with information about how to proceed.

On April 3, DHS created an online form where people can report individuals who they think are non-citizens. Here, they can report specific crimes they believe the non-citizen has committed, including simply being an undocumented immigrant, or getting married for the purpose of remaining in the country. This will lead to citizens reporting their neighbors on the assumption that they are undocumented immigrants.

The Biden Administration also posted some forms to report immigration violations late in Biden's term. But as far as I can tell, suspicion that someone is undocumented was not part of that reporting. With the new form, one can go in and report that they believe their hispanic neighbors are illegal aliens, and ICE will show up. How will we know which of our neighbors are undocumented immigrants? In general, we don't, unless we've gained their trust—become their friends and confidants.  Everyone else will be reporting based on appearances: Racism.

Further, on April 10, Secretary Noem announced that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is relaunching the Victims of Immigration Crime Engagement (VOICE) office. The VOICE office was shuttered by the previous administration, which left victims of alien crime without access to many key support services and resources.

I believe more people will fall victim to Trump's administration, and more people will simply be okay with it, and this is how we finally lose our nation.
