Trump Attempts To Leash The Monster He Created

Trump, seeing that he was about to get his ass handed to him in dozens of lawsuits, chooses a different path.

Late last night, President Trump signed two executive orders to reduce the size of the Federal Government. In this order, the administration is taking a more measured—and constitutional—crack at the business of reducing government.

This is a stark contrast to the first month of his administration in which he allowed DOGE to run amock and shut down funding based on the whims of Elon Musk.

Department of Government Efficiency Deregulatory Initiative

This order requires all departments to review and eliminate regulations that are not specifically created by acts of Congress, or that are deemed unconstitutional by the department heads and the Department of Justice. Although there can be wide interpretation about what is "constitutional" for the purposes of this law, it is a much more organized method to reduce the Federal Government than Elon Musk tweeting lies and disinformation and eliminating entire agencies by simply cutting off funding.

The president orders all departments to work with DOGE to identify regulations that can potentially be cut, before sending it to the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs, an agency within the Office of Management and Budget.

The order eliminates a few agencies and organizations right away, if they were created by executive order, or were not created by laws and statutes passed by Congress. For a number of other agencies, he's ordering a review of every organization, and requires that everything not directly supported by laws passed by Congress be done away with.

This is a stark contrast to the first month of his administration in which he allowed DOGE to run amock and shut down funding based on the whims of Elon Musk.
