Trump says he's thought long and hard, and has decided to turn the devastated Gaza Strip into one of his real estate investments, after evicting the native population. |
In a press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, President Trump announced that the United States will take over the Gaza Strip and develop it. He said the United States will remove all Palestinians, turn it into a real estate development, and then perhaps allow the Palestinians to return. However, he referred to his planned real estate development as "the Riviera of the Middle East" and plans for "people of the world" to live there. At this point, the White House has made no formal announcements on this issue and as far as anyone knows, he may have been blowing smoke to impress the Prime Minister.*
Palestinians were removed from the majority their homeland in the first half of the 20th Century, and especially in the wake of the Holocaust. They were given small portions of their homeland to live: The Gaza Strip, which borders the Mediterranean, and the West Bank, which borders the Dead Sea, both controlled by Israel.

Rebels from the Gaza Strip attacked Israel on October 7, 2023, murdering 1,200 people and committing various atrocities. Israel responded with full military force against the people of Gaza, and to date have slaughtered more than 62,000.
President Trump today issued an order regarding Iran, to prevent Iran building a nuclear weapon, authorizing the Secretaries of State and Treasury and the Attorney General, to place maximum financial and diplomatic pressure on Iran.
During his first administration, Trump withdrew from an Obama-era treaty that involved multiple other nations, in which Iran had committed to not developing nuclear weapons. Since then, Iran has been developing nuclear weapons. Yesterday, the New York Times reported that Iran is expediting development, and that likely led to today's order. The order today also targets various international groups that are aided by Iran.
*In a press conference on February 5, Press Secretary Leavitt said that President Trump never said the US would take over the Gaza Strip. She lied; however, I believe this is a signal from the Administration that the US will not actually take over ownership of the Gaza Strip.
