Guns and Faith

Paula White-Cain, megachurch leader and right-wing conservative, called the Black Lives Matter movement "the anti-Christ."

An executive order today established the White House Faith Office, to modify and replace the Bush-era White House Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives. This office was filled by George W. Bush, Barrack Obama and Joseph Biden. In his first term, President Trump eliminated the office and shut down the website, so this is a stark change from his first term.

He appointed Paula White, a controversial pastor of a Christian Megachurch, to fill the role of Special Government Employee and Senior Advisor to head the office. White served as Trump's spiritual advisor during his first term. White is controversial for many reasons. Fundamentalist Christians believe women should not lead in the church, which places White's existence as the leader of a megachurch in direct conflict with their doctrines. Also, she is a right-wing conservative in both politics and faith, which places her in conflict with political centrists, leftward.

In another order today, President Trump established a workgroup to review all firearms rules and laws in all departments, including the laws enforced by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, and come up with an action plan to dismantle all laws that they consider "infringe" on the Second Amendment. This workgroup will comprise of top leaders of departments and its findings are certain to reflect their collective ideology on the topic.
