On Trump's second Monday in office, he signed an order to create an "Iron Dome" of defense around the United States, with advanced weaponry to ward off attacks.

During the weekend, in addition to what I wrote previously, there were reports of Hispanic citizens and Native Americans being detained for hours by ICE. One man gave a harrowing account on Facebook and included pictures.

Brandon Colin, of Utah, was leaving his work at Walmart when he approached an ICE stop-and-ID effort on the streets. He said that ICE already had a woman detained when they stopped him. Colin did not have his birth certificate to prove his citizenship, leading to further questioning from ICE. He asked for the police, and two departments arrived. A Murray, Utah officer cooperated with ICE and sought to arrest Colin, but the Millcreek, Utah officer refused, and told the others to back down. In the end, Colin was released.

The Department of Defense announced today that they have 3,100 troops on the Southern Border as of today. There were reports that troops briefly exchanged brief fire with drug cartels today, but there were no reported injuries. Border Patrol reports a precipitous decline in people crossing the border to seek asylum, and the Trump Administration counts this as a win, not realizing that people are likely still crossing the border, but simply not turning themselves in to Border Patrol, knowing the consequences.
